John Lennon's biopic to reveal unknown facts
Matt Greenhalgh of Joy Division biopic Control celebrity said that the book "illuminated so much just about this legendary genius. I could see the drama and cinema immediately the women in his lifespan, the manpower who weren't, the birthing of stone and hustle, all stately on a brilliantly complicated adolescent mind."

Besides, maybe, the Mothers of Invention (with whom they were sometimes compared), the Bonzo Dog Band were the most successful mathematical group to compound john Rock music and comedy. Starting off as the Bonzo Dog Dada Band, then becoming the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, and then finally just the Bonzo Dog Band, the group was started by British fine art college students in the mid-'60s. Initially they were inclined toward trad jazz and vaudevillian routines, merely by the meter of their 1967 debut album, they were leaning further in pop and rock'n'roll directions. A brief appearance in the Beatles' Wizard Mystery Tour moving picture bolstered their visibility, and Paul McCartney (under the anonym Apollo C. Vermouth) produced their single "I'm the Urban Spaceman," which reached the British Top Five in 1968. The Bonzos truly arrive at their stride with their second and third albums, which launch them adding elements of psychedelia to their already-absurdist integrate of pop, night club, and Dada. The Bonzos could be sidesplitting, merely their records held up well because they were besides up to musicians and songwriters, paced by Neil Innes and Viv Stanshall (both of whom wrote the lion's ploughshare of their charles Herbert Best corporeal). The group attempted to displace into more serious and musical realms with their 1969 LP Keynsham, which, unsurprisingly, was acclaimed as their weakest endeavour. They stone-broke up shortly later on; Viv Stanshall made some obscure solo recordings (he was besides the grandstanding narrator on Mike Oldfield's "Tube-shaped Bells"). Neil Innes collaborated with members of Monty Python, upon whom the Bonzos were a big influence, as comfortably as piece of writing the songs for and playing in the Beatles documental put-on, The Rutles.

Monument to homosexual victims of Nazis unveiled
Berlin mayor Klaus Wowereit, who is openly gay, hailed the grey, concrete memorial as a long overdue acknowledgement of the repression of homosexuals, 50,000 of whom were convicted by Nazi courts during Adolf Hitler's 12-year dictatorship.
"The monument consecrated today is a reminder to us of the horrors of the past and draws our attention to the degree of discrimination that currently exists," Wowereit said.
"Great efforts will still need to be undertaken before the sight of two men or women kissing here or in Moscow or elsewhere on the planet is accepted by society in general."
The 600,000 euro ($950,000) cube in Berlin's central Tiergarten park stands opposite the monument to the 6 million European Jews murdered by the Nazis, and was designed by the Danish-Norwegian pairing of Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset.
Nazi authorities ordered the castration of some gay men, and sent thousands more to concentration camps, many of whom were murdered or died from hunger and disease.
Until 1969, when the centre-left Social Democrats headed a government for the first time since the Weimar Republic, Nazi laws continued to be applied to prosecute homosexuals.
The country's gay and lesbian association (LSVD) said that for years German homosexuals had been cut out of the official culture of commemoration, and denied compensation.
"Commemoration must have consequences," the LSVD said in a statement. "The rehabilitation of those people who were convicted under Nazi laws must therefore be the next step."

McKellen hopes to play Gandalf in The Hobbit
McKellen played Gandalf in all three instalments of the 'Lord of the Rings', and wants to don his robes and hat again even though series director Peter Jackson will not be at the helm for the new film.
Speaking on his official website, McKellen also said Jackson would the executive producer on the new film with Guillermo del Toro, maker of 'Pan's Labyrinth', set to direct.
Asked whether he would play Gandalf, McKellen said: "Yes I will, if Peter Jackson and I have anything to do with it, he being the executive producer and me being, on the whole, a very lucky actor."
He continued: "Encouragingly, Peter and screenwriter Fran Walsh have told me they couldn't imagine 'The Hobbit' without their original Gandalf. Their confidence hasn't yet been confirmed by the director Guillermo del Toro but I am keeping my diary free for 2009!"
Del Toro and Jackson plan to make 'The Hobbit', a far shorter book than the three that made up the 'Lord of the Rings' series, into two films. As with Jackson's films, the two films will be shot simultaneously.

Fern Britton Admits Having Weight-Loss Surgery
Fern Britton has confessed to having weight-loss surgery.
Despite recent claims from her rep that Britton's new slim figure was down to a healthy lifestyle, the 50-year-old TV star has admitted she underwent gastric banding two years ago to have the size of her stomach reduced.
The 'This Morning' host said she was "very pleased" with the results, but added that she would not want to influence others to follow her lead.
"As I know, many people are interested in my weight loss over the past two years. As interest is so high, I am making public, as a personal choice, that I had a gastric band operation two years ago," she said.
"I did this purely for myself and I would not wish to influence others to do the same. But for me it has worked and I am very pleased with the results."
Fern's rep had previously said, "Fern is happy to say that her weight loss is a consequence of healthy diet and exercise."
Britton, who was reportedly concerned that at her biggest she was an unhealthy role model for other women, has quietly introduced a new fitness regime and eating plan, avoiding faddy diets in favour of a holistic approach. She is now in training for an intensive 370km charity bike ride in Cuba later this year.
She has said, "It's a great thing when you have a moment in your life which makes you think 'I'm gonna change'. I was coming up to 50 and I thought 'I'm going to change'.
"It's possible. But in your head you've got to get to the right space. Once you're there you can do that."
